Harman wants to bring new destinations to the Northwest Florida Regional Airport. As part of his plan, he wants officials to consider obtaining the services of an air service development consulting firm that would specialize in market analysis, establishing headquarters, meetings with airlines and developing routes into and out of VPS.
“There are many, many possibilities, but we want to be realistic with what our market can bear,” Harman said. “Air service development doesn’t happen the same year you make contact, typically...it’s an evolving process, you have to constantly go back and remind them." He continued, “I expect in the nearer time frame, we will see service to Chicago.”
In addition to Chicago, Harman would like routes to Miami and Orlando, among others including Salt Lake City and New York City.
“If we can get Miami and Orlando service in the near term, I would feel like I accomplished a great deal,” Harman said.
We will let you know more as it becomes available.
